<span style="font-size:14px;">As an oxygen scavenger, carbohydrazide is a critical component employed to prevent corrosion within a system. <strong>Testing for carbohydrazide</strong> ensures the dosing of systems with sufficient chemical to protect metal from corrosion but not so much that treatment chemicals are wasted. Regular testing therefore ensures maximum efficiency of the boiler system.</span></div>

The test kits employ the <strong>PDTS</strong> chemistry. <strong>Carbohydrazide Reduces</strong> Ferric iron to the Ferrous state, and the Ferrous iron reacts with <span style="font-size:18px;">PDTS</span> (3-(2-pyridyl)-5,6-bis (4-phenylsulfonic acid)-1,2,4-triazine disodium salt) to form a <span style="font-size:16px;">peach-pink colored complex</span> in direct proportion to the carbohydrazide concentration. Test results are expressed as ppm (mg/L) carbohydrazide.</span></div>

<span style="font-size:14px;">Carbohydrazide (CH6N4O) - RXSOL-42-2541-025 is an oxygen scavenger often added to boiler systems to control corrosion. It reacts with oxygen at low temperatures and pressures. It also passivates metal surfaces preventing further corrosion. The reaction products are volatile, so they do not contribute to dissolved solids in the system. Carbohydrazide is widely used to replace hydrazine as an oxygen scavenger because it is less toxic.</span></p>
