Ehrlichs aldehyde reagent is used to detect urobilinogen in urine. Urobilinogen is one of the bile pigments found in urine in case of liver defects, (epidemic icterus, cirrhosis) or as a result of excessive formation of bilirubin (haemolytic jaundice).</p>
